Afterbay and Grapevine Campgrounds are two front-country camping facilities located on the shores of Afterbay Lake within the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area in Fort Smith, Montana. Managed in collaboration with the Crow Tribe of Indians, both locations offer scenic, year-round access for anglers, paddlers, and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the Bighorn River system
Afterbay Campground: Handicapped accessible restrooms, drinking water and a boat launch are all available here.
OPERATIONAL DETAILS & RULES
Reservations: Booking is managed by phone through the Yellowtail Market (406-666-2333 or after-hours at 406-679-5599). Sites also operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Payment: Accepted via cash or check only, made payable to the Crow Tribe of Indians.
Stay Limits: Camping is limited to a maximum of 14 days.
Accessibility: All sites across both grounds are ADA accessible.
Quiet Hours: Strict quiet hours run from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with generator use permitted only between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.

Resource Restrictions: Firewood collection is completely prohibited within the recreation area.

Afterbay Campground is located on Route 200 / State Highway 313 on the south shore of Afterbay Lake in Fort Smith, Montana 59035. It sits within the North Unit of the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, positioned roughly 1 mile northeast of Yellowtail Dam and right next to the Bighorn River system
DIRECTIONS TO GRAPEVINE CAMPGROUND
Take 313 into the town of Fort Smith, MT. Follow the brown/white direction signs. Turn right on Rte 12 and drive across the afterbay dam. Continue on Route 12 for approximately 1.6 miles. Turn left into Grapevine Campground.
