Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon

Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon Information

The Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon, located in Beaumont, California, just 30 minutes from Palm Springs, is owned and operated by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, a federally recognized tribe with deep ancestral ties to the San Gorgonio Pass region. Formerly known as the East Valley Golf Club, the facility was acquired by the tribe in 2010 and renamed in 2011 to reflect their cultural heritage. The name "Tukwet", pronounced took-wet, is derived from the Serrano word for “wildcat,” honoring the Morongo people's native language and enduring connection to the land.

This 36-hole public golf facility features two championship courses, The Champions and The Legends, designed by renowned architects Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley. Each course stretches over 7,300 yards from the back tees and offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The rolling terrain, lush fairways, and dramatic mountain views create a striking backdrop for play.

As the home of the Southern California PGA (SCPGA) and a host venue for the LPGA’s annual Epson Tour, Morongo Golf Club has established itself as a premier golf destination in the region. On-site amenities include a 420-yard double-ended driving range, multiple putting and chipping greens, a well-stocked pro shop, and a casual sports bar and grill for relaxing after a round.

The acquisition and revitalization of the club is part of the Morongo tribe’s broader mission to create recreational and cultural opportunities for both tribal members and the surrounding community. Through enterprises like this, the tribe continues to invest in the local economy while preserving and sharing its rich cultural legacy.
