Four Corners Monument

Four Corners Monument Information

This is the only unique landmark in the United States where four states intersect at one point: Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The original marker erected in 1912 was a simple cement pad, but has since been redone in granite and brass. Located on a remote high desert plateau, it is operated as a Tribal Park by the Navajo Nation Parks and Recreation Department.

The park is open year-round, and features a demonstration center with Navajo artisans. Navajo vendors selling handmade jewelry, crafts and traditional Navajo foods.

Services and accommodations are limited to small cafes, grocery stores and self-service gasoline stations within a 30 mile radius.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
The monument is highly remote and typically treated as a quick, 30-minute roadside photo stop rather than a full-day destination. However, it pairs well with a broader Southwest road trip. Nearby cultural and natural parks include:

  • Mesa Verde National Park (Colorado) – Home to ancient Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings.

  • Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park (Arizona/Utah) – Famous for its towering sandstone buttes.

  • Hovenweep National Monument (Utah/Colorado) – Preserves six prehistoric canyon-rim villages
