Located in Schaumburg, northwest of Chicago and within reach of the eastern end of historic Route 66, Trickster Cultural Center is a Native-owned arts and education center dedicated to Indigenous culture, environmental awareness and community engagement.


ABOUT TRICKSTER CULTURAL CENTER

Trickster Cultural Center was established to support Native artists and foster greater public awareness of Indigenous histories and cultures. The center works with artists, educators and community members to present exhibitions and programs that reflect the diversity of Native nations across North America.

Programming highlights traditional knowledge, environmental stewardship and contemporary Indigenous creativity. The center also serves as a gathering space for cultural celebrations, youth engagement and intertribal events.

ART GALLERY AND PROGRAMS

The center’s art gallery features rotating exhibitions of Native American art, including painting, sculpture, beadwork, photography and mixed media. Exhibits often showcase both established and emerging Indigenous artists, with an emphasis on storytelling and cultural continuity.

Educational programs include:

•    Artist talks and exhibition openings

•    Workshops in traditional and contemporary art forms

•    Cultural presentations and demonstrations

•    School and group tours

OUTDOOR PUBLIC ART

The center includes outdoor public art facilities that celebrate Native identity and environmental themes. Sculptures and murals on the property reflect Indigenous symbolism and storytelling traditions.

The outdoor art space creates an accessible cultural experience for visitors and reinforces the center’s focus on art as a living and visible expression of Native presence in the community.

Summer Youth Powwow

The annual Summer Youth Powwow is one of the center’s signature events. The powwow brings together young dancers, drum groups and families from multiple tribal nations for a day of cultural celebration.

The event typically features:

•    Grand Entry with youth dancers in regalia

•    Intertribal dancing

•    Drum groups and traditional songs

•    Native arts and craft vendors

•    Food vendors and community booths

The Summer Youth Powwow emphasizes youth leadership, cultural pride and intergenerational connection.
